Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan - sa-skach-uh-won
(for those who don't know how to pronounce it!)

Hard to spell easy to draw.
You can see your dog run away for 2 weeks.

Nobody in the world knows where is unless you are Canadian.

(for those who don't know where it is!)
Those Canadians make fun of it when you tell them that's where you are from.

But for ME, Saskatchewan is HOME. I Love it, and Miss it.
I think it is one of those things that you don't realize how much you love it until you don't have it anymore.

I polled most of the contacts in my phone to see what THEY loved about MY HOME.
Most of them gave the same answers, which isn't really a big surprise considering the contacts I have in my phone!!
But what was surprising was that the most 'obvious' answer was often the last answer that was given.

So what do people love about Saskatchewan??
They love:
the friendly people.
The weather.
The women! (Lol)
The scenery.
The lakes.
The unpredictability.
The small town feel.
It feels like one big community.
The sunsets.
There are Good people doing good things.
There is 4 seasons.
That is where our family lives.
Its is the home of the best damn football team in the CFL.
Everybody is not in a Huge rush to get nowhere fast.
There is gorgeous lake and cottage country.
We feed the country.(You're welcome!)
People say hello when walking down the street.

That is what WE love about Saskatchewan.
I love All of those things too.(Well with the exception of the women!)
But I also love that I was born and raised there.
MOST of my family is there. All my friends are there.
I love that Craven is there!
I love that we pay less for car insurance!
I love that we have something that brings the ENTIRE province together.
It doesn't matter where in the world you are. There is ALWAYS something to talk about!

Most of all I love that Saskatchewan is MY HOME.
No matter where in the world I end up living I will always have a soft spot in my heart for the place I grew up!!

xoxo Amy D.

OH yeah... And it's not Alberta!

Thanks to everybody for playing along with me!

(there is EVERYBODY happy now??)

My New Favorite Thing

For anybody who has known me for any length of time, this post will likely surprise you.

This story begins at the end of February. When Alex and I went on our honeymoon. We had the BEST time of our lives. That is until the day we had to come home.
There we were sitting in the Miami airport waiting for our flight. We had about 18 hours until we arrived home. And let me tell you I am not sure I have been that bored in my life.
We left our computers at home, I didn't want to turn on my blackberry.
(I was entirely uninterested in paying for roaming charges)
So off I went on an adventure in the Miami airport. I ventured off to look for something to do.
I went to the little news stand very close to our gate and I found 2 things!
1. A pack of Beef Jerky
2. The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly
I have ALWAYS had a love for Beef Jerky! Reading on the other hand I have ALWAYS had a strong dislike for. But, Alas I did have 18 hours, and 3 flights between me and technology!!
I dove into that book like nobodies business....and finished it in about a week.
After that I have read 4or 5 books.
Not just ANY books. They have been eBooks.

Alex being the wonderful husband that he is bought me a Kobo eReader.
I have been LOVING it!

Here are the pros/cons if you are thinking of getting one.
 PROS:
-it is small/light weight
-you can carry hundreds if not thousands of books on it
-you can get hundreds if not thousands of books for free
-the books you can't get for free are reletively cheap
-you can't lose your page
-it is only 2oz heavier than my blackberry
-you can take it anywhere
-you can read anywhere
-the battery lasts about 2 weeks (depending of course on how much you read)
-it has wifi so you can get new books on the go (as long as you are in a hotspot)

CONS:
-You can't lend books to people after you read them and love them.
-the battery could potentially die while you are in the middle of a really good part of your book (but that is your own fault for not plugging it in!)

The only thing I dislike about MY Kobo, is that I want the NEW touch screen one!!

Welcome to the Stanley Cup Final

In Honor of the Stanley Cup Final starting tonight.
The fact that I am being 'forced' to watch hockey instead of ANY thing else in the world.
Well I am going to talk about the only thing that interests me about Hockey Night in Canada.
Don Cherry and his horrendous suits.
Now this is NOT to say that the fabric is ugly.
Cause let me tell you.
I'm not sure that I could count how many times I have seen a suit that Don Cherry was wearing, and said to myself: "That would make SUCH a nice skirt or dress!"
Please let me demonstrate:

All of these suits would make lovely skirts!!

So here's to hoping that the Canucks sweep this series. If for NO other reason.
I am SICK of hockey!!
